SOCIAL WELFARE

Social Welfare Services are an indicator of the level of concern the government in particular and the society in general has for the aged, widows, physically disadvantaged, underprivileged and downtrodden sections of the society. As it has been said, “fortune favours some” so all the sections of the society are not fortunate enough to have ample economic avenues and opportunities. And if we do not care for these sections then there will be disgruntlement and in-equilibrium in the social set-up which is against inclusive and human growth.
To minimize the sufferings and wipe the tears of these sections of society, the Social Welfare Department and ICDS run many welfare schemes. This chapter delineates the schemes run by the Social Welfare Department and ICDS to empower these sections.
