DISTRICT PROFILE SHOPIANThe Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs previously known as “Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department” is one of the oldest Department in the UT entrusted with the responsibility of implementing one of the prime social sector programme of providing “Food Security” to one and all in general and to the vulnerable sections of the Society in particular by way of providing foodgrains like rice, wheat, and Atta and other essential commodities like Sugar, K.oil and Petroleum Products besides, protecting the consumer rights.

The Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has been performing the following prime functions:

Public Distribution System
Regulation of Supplies, LPG and other Petroleum Products etc.
Price/Market Control
Redressal of Consumer Grievances and Protection of Consumer Rights
Consumer Awareness Programme

**Various Schemes Of The Department**

AAY @ 35 Kgs per Ration Card.	1. Households having meager monthly income. (certificate from competent authority) 2. Houseless and landless. 3.Widows/Orphans/Destitute/militancy & violence effected families in low income group, leprosy patients & domestic Housemaids. 4. Weaker sections, nomadic families 5. Old age Pension holders, specially abled /physically handicapped. 6. Inhabitants having kachha houses. 7. Displaced families (Natural calamity). 8. Labourers and workers. 9. Slum Dwellers. 10. Any other deserving families identified by competent authority not included above.	The scheme can be availed offline only through Tehsil Level NFSA committees subject to availability of allocation. The committee comprises of following officers. 1. Tehsildar concerned. (Chairman) 2. Block Dev. Officer concerned (Member) 3. Tehsil Social Welfare Officer (Member) 4. Tehsil Supply Officer concerned (Member)
PHH @ 05 Kgs per Souls	1. Households having meager monthly income. (certificate from competent authority) 2.
