World Water Day Celebration at Shopian

SHOPIAN, MARCH 22, 2021:- Catch the rain, when it rains where it falls on World Water Day Week was today organized by Jal Shakti Department Shopian with District Development Commissioner, Shopian, Sachin Kumar in Chair. The World Water Week witnessed a massive campaign on water conservation across the district with the involvement of Jal Shakti and other concerned departments here at Mini Secretariat Arhama Shopian.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC made the people aware about the importance of fresh-water and the need to save the precious gift of nature and by using it judiciously but without wasting even a single drop of water. He further said that it is the responsibility of all to save and preserve the water in letter and spirit as it is essential for our life.

He said that under Jal Jeevan Mission every household would get tap supply in the district and for this purpose several measures are being taken. The day witnessed a massive campaign on water conservation.

The District Administration Shopian is celebrating the World Water Day with great participation and enthusiasm in Shopian in order to sensitize the public and the officer’s alike Shopian regarding the importance of water conservation.

The audience were asked to actively participate in such campaigns and play a constructive role in water conservation and preservation.

He said that several initiatives are being taken to provide portable drinking water to every household and a reference of Centrally Sponsored Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to provide the portable drinking water to every rural household.

A pledge of oath also took place on the occasion to preserve and save the every drop of water.

Among others, additional deputy commissioner Dr. Sheikh Ab Aziz, Joint Director Planning, DDCs, PRIs, Xen, Public Health Engineering Shopian Officers/Officials of PHE and other concerned were present on the occasion.
